This makes the case well. I never thought the Milgram experiment was unethical. It indicted American middle class values, perhaps Western ones fundamentally, of what many people are willing to do to get ahead and keep their social position, at all costs, even to the lives of others. We are still trying very hard not to learn the lessons, but real life is coming one to day for a calling of accounts. Civilization, or anarchic barbarism, democracy, or tyranny–it’s our choice as to what kind of a human society we want to live in. The choice has always been ours to make. Most don’t.
